Rising Strong in Your Yoga Practice

The physics of vulnerability is simple: If we are brave enough, often enough, we will fall. The Rising Strong Process is a tool that teaches you what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of struggle gives us the power to write a daring new ending. Struggle can be our greatest call to courage and the clearest path to a wholehearted life.

The Rising Strong Process is a model developed by clinicians working with Brené Brown, PhD and is based on Brené’s research into shame and the traits of shame resilience that emerged through her studies. Using this model we will explore the stories we make up about our bodies and our yoga practice that keep us stuck or create shame. “If you think you don’t do shame, then shame is doing you.” Brené Brown.

If you are brave enough to show up and be seen, but want a few skills to use in the arena this weekend intensive is for you. We will explore our mind body connections and reckon with our challenges, rumble with our emotions and start our revolutions. Participants will learn to recognize the values they hold dear, the conspiracies and confabulations in their stories and the skills to keep moving forward after a fall.

Praanayama, meditation and restorative yoga will be weaved through the process to enhance your ability to tap into your emotions, stories and recovery skills. There is no promise of a problem free/shame free life, but with the skills to manage these unavoidable human vulnerabilities we can thrive and grow through our experiences and have joy and peace along the way.

This course will be led by Holly Wade, LCSW, CDWF, RYT-200. Holly is trained mental health professional with a holistic treatment approach. She is a Certified Daring Way Facilitator. Holly completed her 200 hour teacher training at Yoga Landing in 2018 and has trained in meditation with Jack Kornfield at the Kripalu Center. She is currently continuing her studies in Clarity Breathwork with Ashley Ludman, E-RYT-500. Holly’s style is informative, nonjudgmental, humorous and healing. She is excited about combining her love of Brené Brown and Yoga.

In preparation for this event it is suggested that you read Rising Strong, by Brené Brown, LMSW, PhD and watch the Call to Courage on Netflix. Attendance is expected for the entire event.
